Wednesday Roundup

KFC IS WORRIED
The big bird-flu scare has Kentucky Fried Chicken scared. They are concerned that consumers will stop eating their birds. It seems to me that frying the little virus buggies would pretty much do them in -- rendering the chickens harmless (if they had the flu bug). Unfortunately frying does add cholesterol -- which is probably more dangerous than the flu. But if taken in moderation you'll be okay.

I'M STILL HAVING FUN -- LOTS OF IT
Three years ago today I published my first blog post. I'm right now using the folding laptop table that I wrote about in that first post.

CONSERVATIVES & LIBERALS UNITE TO FIGHT COMMON ENEMY
Ted Haggard, head of the 30-million-member National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), has contacted the National Council of Churches (NCC), to see if they can help with the All Saints Episcopal Church case. The IRS is hassling the church because of a sermon which questioned the war in Iraq.

PROPOSITIONS FAIL -- LEFT AND RIGHT
California voters defeated all propositions yesterday. That's how it looks very early Wednesday.

I wonder if this means that Gov Schwarzenegger will drop out of the upcoming governor's election. (Poll workers almost didn't let him vote this time because their information mistakenly showed that he had already voted.)

THREE CHINESE JAILED FOR PRINTING BIBLES
It is illegal to print Bibles in China without special government permission -- too dangerous of a book.

EDITOR GOES WILD
Dan has discovered that sometimes editors get carried away. It now appears that the story he wrote, which was butchered by someone at Tyndale, has been pulled from pastorport.com -- much to Dan's relief -- I'm sure.

Re: Arrests for printing Bibles.

This just reminds me of how many crosses as well as trinkets in Christian bookstores actually are made in China. I encourage Christians to take a look next time they go into one of these stores.

I once wrote to Zondervan asking that they reconsider this practice given the oppression of Christianity in China. I never heard back.
