Agnus Day cartoon which focuses on tomorrow's gospel lesson
Update, Sunday, 16-Sept -- After listening to the gospel text read during worship this morning I've decided that Agnus Day has it wrong. The point is not God's persistence. Nor is it that we're to leave 99 healthy sheep to look for one who is lost. All of that is a part of the story but the punch-line -- the big idea in the parable -- the message, seems to about God's joy when what was lost is found. In contrast, the religious leaders were being sourpusses because tax-collectors and other formerly lost sinners were welcomed by Jesus. They just couldn't find any joy in what God was doing.
