• Ted Gossard talks straightforward about his depression. ~ link
• Regardless of whether there is a bailout or not Babyboomers over 55 are in trouble. Their investments designated for their retirement may not have enough time to recover before they need the assets. Of course, "trouble" is somewhat relative. It may mean that in spite of all their planning they can only take three trips a year instead of 12. They may have to live in one house and give up their holiday stugas at the beach and in the mountains. ~ link
• The financial crisis reminds me of the parable of the man in Luke 12:13-21 who spent his whole life securing his future with investment upon investment -- only to find that when he got to the future he couldn't use any of it. Investments aren't bad -- perhaps they're even good. But in the overall scheme of things they are very limited in value. Rich living does not hinge of a rich portfolio.
