~ "Pastoral Excellence and Competence," William Willimon's talk at the Covenant Midwinter Conference. Video or text.

~ I want one -- a keyboard waffle iron.

~ Ancient-Future Legacy -- the latest Christian History & Biography newsletter contains excerpts from a few of Robert Webber's writings and from those who knew him well. My own sense is that we shouldn't just remember him as the worship renewal guy or as an academic theologian. Bob Webber was primarily a missiologist.

~ Chris Erdman, pastor of University Presbyterian Church in Fresno, has a book on preaching coming out in September. Chris is a very engaging preacher. I heard him when he was the speaker at Dan's graduation from Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary a couple of years ago.

~ Dr Francis Beckwith, the president of the Evangelical Theological Society and a professor at Baylor University, has become a Roman Catholic -- again. Evangelical theologians are a bit dazed and baffled by it all. It was a complicated decision, says Beckwith. See his post on the Right Reason blog. Don't miss the comments section at the bottom of Beckwith's post where Doug Groothuis, in true form, reams him out.

SPLASH!!!

Okay, Brad. There goes yet another person I have respected, spiritually and intellectually. If you wind up crossing the Tiber then I will have no choice but to go swimming, too! (grin)

P.S. I'm wondering: how does Douglas Groothuis,"Ph.D" dare include G.K. Chesterton on his list of favorite books on his blog profile? Surely that must pain "all true sons and daughters of the Protestant Reformation, who lived and died for its truths." Isn't Dr. Groothuis in danger of embracing serious theological error by giving GKC such approval?
